As you can see the Magnetic Field is locked, in the OFF position.  In the ON position, using a magnet and two pieces of ferrous material separated by a non-ferrous material or air, the Magnetic Field is allowed to enter the pickup coil.  Induction occurs at both ON and OFF position.  Then at 3 different speeds, when a load is applied the pickup coil, 3 different reactions are witnessed.   Air between the two pieces of ferrous material is more efficient for producing energy than using the non-ferrous as a divider. 

No air gap between the source and the pickup coil!

The Magnetic Field is being turned ON and OFF.  This is not the same as moving a Magnetic Field, which is how a current is inducted, using today technology.
