This picture shows a Magnetic Base and Core with coil. The Magnet when switched to the
off possition as shown, movement also causes induction in the coil and locking the Poles together, stoping flux flow into
the core.
The switch is in the on possition allowing North and South Poles to flow through the core,
movement causing current to be inducted in the coil.
The plastic paddle fits loose in slot, and without bearings on the Magnet, this will
allowing the Magnet to align itself.
This shows the Magnet and as you can see, no bearing! If the shaft is attached to
the Magnet, bearings will be present and would not allow the Magnet to self align.
